Exchange Policy
Cancellations, Exchanges & Other “Oh Shit” Moments
Every Smartass Goods item is made especially for you when you order it. That means we don’t have a warehouse full of shirts waiting around for someone to change their mind, and it also means our return policy works a little differently from traditional retail.
But if we screw something up? We’ll make it right.
Order Cancellations
Changed your mind after hitting that button? You’ve got a little breathing room.
Orders are eligible for cancellation for 24 hours after the order is placed. To request a cancellation, click the link in your order confirmation email to access your order. You do not need to have created a customer account when you placed your order. If you’re not already signed in, you’ll be prompted to enter the email address used for your order, and Shopify will send you a one-time verification code to securely access your customer account and submit a cancellation request.
Once the 24-hour cancellation window has passed, your order is released for production and can no longer be canceled.
If you need a different size, color, or item and are still within the cancellation window, the easiest option is to cancel the original order and place a new one with the correct selections.
Size Exchanges
Ordered the right shirt but the wrong size? We offer size exchanges on eligible items.
Size exchange requests must be submitted within 14 days of carrier-confirmed delivery using our Size Exchange Request Form.

To qualify for a size exchange:
- The exchange must be for the same item in a different size.
- The item must be unworn except for trying it on, unwashed, undamaged, and in resellable condition.
- Only one size exchange per item is permitted.
- You are responsible for the cost of shipping the original item back to Smartass Goods.
- Approved exchanges are subject to a 25% Size Exchange Fee, calculated from the merchandise price of the item being exchanged.
- If the requested size has a higher retail price, you’ll also pay the price difference.
- If the requested size has a lower retail price, that difference will be credited toward your Size Exchange Fee.
Submitting an exchange request does not automatically approve the exchange.
Once we review your request, we’ll email you with approval and return instructions. Please do not mail your item back until you receive those instructions.
After your original item is received and inspected, we’ll send you a secure payment request for the applicable Size Exchange Fee and any size-price difference. Your replacement will be ordered after payment is received.
If the returned item does not meet the exchange conditions above, we may decline the exchange.
Change of Mind, Color Changes & Regular Returns
Because Smartass Goods products are made to order, we do not accept standard returns for refunds due to buyer’s remorse, changing your mind, selecting the wrong color, or deciding you’d rather have a different design or product.
Incorrect size selections may qualify for the Size Exchange program described above.
Please check the product description and size guide carefully before ordering—and give your cart one last look before you hit that button. Future You will appreciate it.
Damaged, Defective, Misprinted or Incorrect Items
This is different from ordering the wrong size.
If your order arrives damaged, defective, misprinted, or you receive an item, size, color, or design that is different from what you actually ordered, please contact us at info@smartassgoods.com within 30 days of delivery.
Include:
- Your order number
- A brief description of what went wrong
- Clear photos showing the problem
Once we’ve reviewed the issue, we’ll arrange an appropriate replacement or refund.
Manufacturing defects, misprints, and fulfillment errors are not subject to the Size Exchange Fee, and you won’t be responsible for the cost of correcting an error that was ours or our fulfillment partner’s.
Please don’t send the item anywhere unless we specifically ask you to.
Lost Packages
If your package hasn’t arrived by the estimated delivery date, let us know.
Claims for packages believed to be lost in transit must be submitted within 30 days of the estimated delivery date.
Before contacting us, please check your tracking information, confirm the shipping address on your order, and check with household members or neighbors who might have accepted the package.
Incorrect or Incomplete Shipping Addresses
Please double-check your shipping address before placing your order.
If an order can’t be delivered because the address provided at checkout was incorrect or incomplete, we cannot provide a free replacement or refund.
If the package is returned and can be reshipped, additional shipping charges may apply.
Refunds
Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method used for your purchase. Your bank or payment provider may require additional processing time before the refund appears in your account.
Original shipping charges are generally non-refundable unless the refund is the result of a damaged, defective, incorrect, or lost order.
Size exchanges are handled under the separate Size Exchange process above and are not treated as standard returns for refund.
Please Don’t Just Send It Back
Seriously. Don’t surprise us with a mystery package.
Whether you’re requesting a size exchange or reporting a problem with your order, contact us or submit the appropriate request before mailing anything anywhere.
Items returned without prior authorization may not qualify for an exchange, replacement, or refund.

If something arrives that isn’t what you ordered or isn’t up to snuff, tell us. If the size just isn’t quite right, use the exchange process and we’ll help you get it sorted.

This policy does not limit any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection laws.
